This fall, Spirit Airlines will become the first budget carrier in the United States to offer WiFi access.
While this may not seem like a big deal to many of you, it might help Spirit Airlines stand out among other budget airlines.
The WiFi service is projected to debut in the fall. Even more interesting is that the airline’s full fleet of aircrafts should be expected to be equipped by the summer of 2019.
The cost to surf the web during a Spirit Airlines will be around $6.50. According to Engadget “that price could go higher or lower depending on your route and demand, though, so don’t be surprised if you pay a premium if you’re on a packed long-haul flight“.
Engadget thinks that by Spirit Airlines adding WiFi, it gives the carrier an advantage over the other low-cost carriers. It’s possible that people will book Spirit flights over the other so they could surf the web while onboard.
Adding WiFi could also be another way for Spirit Airlines to generate revenue.
