Guidebooks aren’t perfect by any means but I still like picking up a Lonely Planet guide for most destinations that we visit.
Besides recommendations on things to do, places to eat and stay, I also like skimming through the provided background info on the country.
The new Lonely Planet Best In Travel 2018 will be available on November 7.
I recently received a press e-mail regarding the book. Ahead of the book’s release, Lonely Planet has released their picks for best travel destinations 2018.

I love seeing these kind of lists to find out what’s hot for the new year. They’re also good for giving us some ideas and travel inspiration. We have a couple of trips being planned for 2018 and one of the destinations made the top countries list at #3- Portugal.
What do you think of the Lonely Planet Best In Travel 2018 picks? I found the oddest ones to be San Juan, PR as a best city. My guess is that the list was created before all of the damage was done by the hurricane to the island.
