Cirque du Soleil Paramour on Broadway- A Must See!

Cirque du Soleil Paramour

Kim and I have been fans of Cirque du Soleil for quite some time. We’ve had the chance to see some of their shows like O, Alegria, Ovo, Wintuk and I’m pretty sure one other!

It’s been a bit harder to go to shows in recent years since most of them probably won’t appeal to little kids. The last show that Kim and I saw in a theater was for Lucas. We saw Yo Gabba Gabba a couple of years back! 🙂

I was definitely excited when I got invited to attend a performance of Cirque du Soleil Paramour at the Lyric Theater in NYC.

Paramour is the first Cirque show created specifically for Broadway. Due to this, it sounded like it would be like no Cirque show we’ve ever seen before.

The reason why I (and probably most people) like Cirque du Soleil shows is due to the amazing, high-flying acrobatics set to interesting music. While the shows do have a storyline, Kim and I typically feel like they aren’t a very important factor in the show. We actually tend to leave thinking, wow- amazing stuff but what was that about!

I went to Paramour knowing nothing about the show other than that it was Cirque on Broadway.

While I haven’t seen tons of Broadway shows and I don’t tend to love musicals, Paramour can now probably be considered one of the best ones I’ve ever seen.

The show is an easy to follow love story about an actress faced with the decision to choose between love and the chance to become a big Hollywood star.

Add in enjoyable music with amazing acrobatics (covering the disciplines of aerial strap artists, Chinese pole, contortion, juggling, Russian beam, teeterboard, tumbling, trampoline, trapeze, and many others) and you’re bound to have an enjoyable show.

In true Cirque fashion, we enjoyed seeing some of the performers in the audience- running down the aisles and soaring overhead, making for a really fun time.

The show also had screens on the sides and on the stage at times which allowed for some pretty cool effects to be used.

Overall, Cirque du Soleil Paramour was a really fun, great time with lots of WOW moments. It definitely makes for an awesome and different kind of Broadway show to see in NYC which will appeal to tourists and locals alike!

Cirque du Soleil’s Paramour is being performed at the Lyric Theater (213 West 42nd Street). Tickets range in price from $55- $149 and can be purchased at Ticketmaster.com)
