When a flight is delayed or cancelled most of us would be happy if the airline put us up in a hotel for the night.
A couple of Hainan Airlines passengers weren’t thrilled when they got to the hotel the airline booked for them due to the weather delaying their flight.
Fox News reports that “A Chinese airline accidentally booked two single Asian women — who were complete strangers — into a “love hotel” –on Valentine’s Day no less“.
The woman were flying from Congqing to Hangzhou when they had the delay.
It seemed like the airline was doing the right thing by offering to put them up with a free hotel stay. (The flight wouldn’t be leaving until late afternoon the following day.)
Imagine their surprise when they showed up at a hotel which “was a per-hour, short-stay love hotel that had sex chairs, chains, and wrist and ankle cuffs“.
One of the woman posted photos of the room on the Chinese social media site Weibo. The Hainan Airlines official Weibo account apologized with an interesting explanation when the post went viral in the Chinese media.
From Fox News, “The passengers were delayed due to bad weather, and all the hotels were booked out because of Valentine’s Day. Our hotel-booking representative couldn’t secure any room and did not research what a ‘themed suite’ means,” it wrote.”
Talk about a crazy story of customer service gone wrong!
I wonder if Hainan Airlines will be offering the two passengers any other compensation due to the mistake.
