The Amazing Race wrapped up its 27th season last Friday.
During the season the show visited 10 countries and traveled 34,000 miles. One team dominated the race, the Green Team, engaged couple Justin & Diana. However, they couldn’t win when it mattered most. Reporters and couple, Kelsey & Joey took home the $1 million prize.
The Amazing Race Season 28 will debut in 2016 filled with social media stars. (Can’t say that I’ve heard of any of them!)
When I came across an article from CNN about the Amazing Race host Phil Keoghan’s Top 10 Destinations, I was curious to find out which places made the cut.
Considering Phil’s been all around the world (thanks in part to the Amazing Race), my guess would be that some great places would be chosen.
From the article, I learned that Koeghan has been traveling since around 3 years old due to his father’s career, bringing the family to live in a variety of international destinations.
Here are Phil Keoghan’s picks for Top 10 Destinations:
- Stromboli, Aeolian Islands, Italy
- Antigua and Barbuda
- New Chums Beach, Coromandel, New Zealand
- Pagosa Springs, Colorado
- Bhutan
- Niue Island, South Pacific
- Queenstown, New Zealand
- Costa Rica
- Coober Pedy, Australia
- Kauai, Hawaii
Two countries have two places which made the list- the U.S. and New Zeland, Keoghan’s birthplace. The places selected tend to focus on the outdoors.
And one place which really surprised me was Antigua and Barbuda. It was selected for an interesting reason. Keoghan spent 8 years growing up there. According to CNN, Keoghan said he “learned about connecting with people from all walks of life“.
What do you think of Phil Keoghan’s picks for top 10 destinations?

Carl P- That was crazy. I’m sure the decision will haunt Justin for a very long time!
Ang- While Justin & Diana dominated the race, I didn’t want them to win. However, can’t say I was a fan of any of the finalists really!
Joseph N- You didn’t hear about the revolution? Actually it was just an error on my part. So sorry.
Only one country had two places that made the list? Look again. Has there been a revolution I didn’t read about, or aren’t Colorado and Hawaii both in the United States?
I love this post! The Amazing Race is one of my favorite shows! I’ve seen every single one along with the spin-offs! I was rooting for Justin and Diana. Sad they didn’t win. I didn’t want the paparazzi team to win. I’m not sure how I feel about next season. They had a live clue check in where the clue was in Mexico a few weeks ago so that was interesting to watch!
I couldn’t believe Justin wouldn’t pay the taxi driver what he wanted to wait for them. It probably wasn’t even really his money.
I had said I would take the field in a bet.
