Mini-Trip: We’re Going To Minnesota

We’re back from Japan less than 2 weeks and are just about ready to take off on our next trip. This trip is a very quick one. We leave early this morning and will be back home in NY by Sunday afternoon.

We’re heading to Minnesota for the weekend and some of you might wonder why.
We are going for a few reasons:

  1. Juicy Lucy’s– I’ve been wanting to try these stuffed cheese burgers where they were invented since seeing them on TV.
  2. Radisson Blu Mall of America– When I heard that the second Radisson Blu in the U.S. would be opening in MN, I had to make it a point to check it out.
  3. The Minnesota Twins– I want to visit every Major League Baseball stadium in the country. I have a long way to go but this will knock one more off the list.
Trip Planning:

The Flights:
We’ll be flying round trip with Southwest Airlines once again.
  • New York (LGA)- Minneapolis-St Paul (MSP): 12,660 points (cost if purchasing- $233)
  • Minneapolis-St Paul (MSP)- New York (LGA): 12,660 points (cost if purchasing- $226)
Once again thanks to my extremely valuable Companion Pass, Kim gets to fly for free and Lucas will too as a lap baby. Once he turns 2 in January, the lap baby party is over. Besides the points, all we paid was $7.50 each for taxes on our flights.
The Hotel:
  • Radisson Blu Mall of America- Cost: Free ($185 per night, $422.82 if paying for the stay)
I had one free night credit thanks to the Radisson Stay 1 Night, Get 1 Night promo which I earned during my trip to Chicago. I won my other free night in the 50 Years, 50 Nights, 50 Rooms giveaway back in November.
.
Car Rental:
I booked my car rental again with Hertz. With the help of a coupon code I got my two day rental for a little under $50 including taxes and fees. Not the cheapest car rental ever but they seem to be a little pricier in Minnesota.
