What’s 30 year old, soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo (who pulls in $40 million + per year and has a fortune topping $220 million) to do with his big bank account?

While I’d sit back and relax, he’ll be investing in boutique hotels.

Ronaldo isn’t the first celebrity to invest in a hotel. Leonardo DiCaprio is opening an eco resort on a private island. You can also rent out some celebrity homes.

According to CNBC, Ronaldo said he “was always dreaming to have my own hotel“.

A $40 million investment will give him a piece of four boutique hotels which are being developed by Pestana Hotel Group, “one of Portugal’s largest tourism and leisure firms“.

The hotels will take on the name of Ronaldo’s brand CR7.

I found it interesting that the four hotel locations will have close-ties to Ronaldo’s life and career.

  1. Funchal, Portugal- his hometown
  2. Lisbon- he started his youth career there
  3. Madrid- he played for their soccer team
  4. New York- Ronaldo’s considering joining their MLS team

While I’ve never heard of Ronaldo’s brand CR7, I’d assume that it’s huge over in Europe. The brand currently has clothing likes socks and underwear as well as fragrances.
