Review: It’s Back, The McDonald’s Snack Wrap!

McDonald's Snack WrapLast week, a popular McDonald’s menu item returned after a 9 year break.

The Snack Wrap arrived with two varieties being offered, Ranch and Spicy. While I rarely eat McD’s when were home, I made an exception and gave the Ranch variety a try.A soft taco wrapped in a flour tortilla is placed on a piece of branded paper. Some melted cheese is visible at the edge of the taco. The paper has text and a website URL printed on it.I opened up the wrapped and it didn’t look like much more than a sad tortilla with a little cheese and lettuce coming out of one end. However, it did smell pretty good.

A little about the Snack Wrap From McDonald’s, “This fan favorite features a McCrispy™ Strip topped with shredded cheese and shredded lettuce, all brought together with creamy Ranch sauce and wrapped in a soft tortilla.”A tortilla wrap partially opened to show its contents, which include a piece of breaded chicken, shredded lettuce, and a creamy sauce. The wrap is placed on a piece of paper with partial text visible. Before giving the Snack Wrap a try, I had to unroll it to see what was doing inside. Based on pure looks, I can’t say that I was impressed. The wrap looked pretty empty…

The McCrispy Strip looked fine but the miniscule amount of cheese and lettuce was just bizarre.

While looks do matter, the more important thing is how did it taste?!?!A hand is holding a wrap with a visible filling of lettuce and a piece of fried chicken. The wrap is partially open, showing the ingredients inside. The background includes a wrapper with partially visible text and a logo. The first bite wasn’t much more than warm tortilla and a bit of ranch. Nothing special but really not too bad…

Once I got the next bite with the chicken, I could taste why its return was so highly anticipated, this wrap happens to be very tasty and enjoyable. I mean, how bad can a warm tortilla with a decent pieces of chicken and ranch sauce really be!

Final Thoughts:

While I did enjoy the Snack Wrap, I can’t say that I’ll be rushing back for another anytime soon (although I am curious to try the Spicy variety). I could see ordering it again if I were short on time and needed something quick to eat.

The Snack Wrap costs $2.99, $9.49 as a meal at my local McDonald’s. Prices vary by location.

Have you tried the Snack Wrap since its return? If so, what did you think?
