Americans Might Soon Be Able To Do Passport Renewals Online!

PassportIn mid-November, we took a ride to Connecticut (from Brooklyn, NY) to get our kid’s passports renewed.

With passport appointments hard to come by (kids under 16 need to apply in person), it was a worthwhile trip. We paid the expedite fee to get them back quickly and they arrived in around three weeks.

The last time I needed to renew my passport, I mailed it in. I was impressed by the turnaround for the expedited renewal by mail.

Mailing in your passport to get it renewed may soon be a thing of the past.

We could soon be able to renew our passports online! President Joe Biden signed an executive order requiring the government to design a new digital system, according to Travel + Leisure.

They expect the new order to take around 6 to 12 months to go into effect.

I don’t know about you but I find this to be some exciting news. Passport renewals tend to be a pain. Renewing them online will hopefully be a much smoother and simpler process.
