L’Antica Pizzeria da Michele, a famous pizzeria from Naples, Italy will be expanding with a new location in NYC in late 2021.
The 150+ year old pizzeria will add to the list of excellent pizza options already available. Back in 2017, another famous Italian shop, Sorbillo Pizzeria opened in NYC.
L’Antica Pizzeria da Michele has expanded quite a bit and has locations in various countries including one in the US in Los Angeles.
While we haven’t tried da Michele at its original location, we did give the restaurant a try in Barcelona in 2019 and it didn’t disappoint!
The restaurant is known for being the pizzeria in Eat, Pray, Love. Eater mentions that “in Italy, L’Antica Pizzeria da Michele is a tiny shop that only sells two pizzas — marinara or margherita.”
The LA menu has a bit more than just two pizza options being offered. The restaurant also offers pastas, burgers and steaks. The upcoming NYC location will offer similar food options.
The restaurant plans to open in the winter of this year at 2 Bank Street in the West Village. The space will be pretty massive with two floors and seating for around 200 people.
