Back in March of 2016 I wrote a post sharing news that a Nintendo theme park was being built in Japan.
While I’m not a huge fan of theme parks, I was definitely interested in this one due to being a big Nintendo fan growing up. Fast forward to 2021 and my kids are huge fans of the Nintendo Switch, especially Super Mario games .
I recently came across great news from Lonely Planet, “Super Nintendo World is set to open in Japan in February.” The post also offered a first look of sorts of the new park.
Super Nintendo World will be located in Osaka at Universal Studios.
The new park will have Mario Kart and Yoshi themed rides and attractions. There will also be restaurants, shops and other experiences.
Lonely Planet mentions “a new theme park experience that lets guests immerse themselves in the world by wearing a Power-Up Band that brings gameplay to life and allows them to keep score.” Imagine getting to feel like you’re playing Super Mario as you “punch enemies and blocks, collect virtual coins” and more…
Super Nintendo World was set to open on February 4 but that has been postponed due to a State of Emergency in Osaka. Once the State of Emergency is lifted, the new opening date will be decided on and then announced.
In the meantime, you can take a virtual tour of the park here.
