Restaurants in New York City have been struggling due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
For too long, restaurants have only been offering takeout or outdoor dining. With the winter being very cold, this is a big problem as many people aren’t interested in the adventure of sitting outside to have a meal.
Indoor dining will finally be returning to NYC starting on February 14- Valentines Day!
Indoor dining will be at greatly reduced numbers, only allowing for 25 percent capacity.
Rules that were in affect when indoor dining back in September will stay in place. Restaurants hoped that the curfew would be extended to 12AM but NY Governor Cuomo would not agree to that, sticking with 10PM.
Eater mentions that NY announcement “comes on the heels of several major cities across the U.S. opening indoor dining in the past week including Chicago, Washington D.C., and Philadelphia. California recently moved to reopen outdoor dining for the first time since November.”
Many restaurants around NYC have gone under due to the pandemic including the iconic 90 year old 21 Club. Will restaurants allowing indoor dining once again save others? Only time will tell.
Would you/ have you dined indoors during the pandemic?
