Popeye’s Chicken Sandwich debuted late last summer and it became an instant hit. People were literally fighting to get their hands on it and eventually it sold out. It took months before the sandwich returned to stores.
We were away when the sandwich came out so the day it returned I headed over the the local Popeye’s to finally give it a try. I wasn’t impressed with the sandwich at first and felt that this sandwich was better.
I waited a while after my initial tasting to give it another try. Since then, I’ve had the sandwich around 3-4 times and have become a big fan of Popeye’s Chicken Sandwich!
Popeye’s runs lots of different offers in their app. I was happy to receive an e-mail about an offer for a free chicken sandwich recently.
The offer is a solid deal but there’s a little catch. In order to get a free Popeye’s Chicken Sandwich you’ll need to make a minimum purchase of $15. So yes, you can get a free sandwich but it’s still going to cost you!
I clicked on the link in the e-mail and was brought to a page with various offers.
The first two listed were: a First Order Specials– Free Classic Chicken Sandwich or Free Spicy Chicken Sandwich with a $15 minimum purchase. (I’m not sure if you can get both.)
I logged into my account through the Popeyes app and was able to click each offer. Neither one stated that it was an either or opportunity, so it does appear you can actually get both chicken sandwiches for free at different times,.
Some Rules: (from the T&Cs)
- One per order
- No substitutions
- Not valid with other coupons or offers
- Valid only at participating US Popeye’s restaurants
- Not valid on delivery
- Offer expires 6/30/20
I think this is a pretty solid offer but it definitely appeared better than it is when I initially saw the subject of the e-mail. We aren’t frequent customers of Popeye’s so I’m not sure that I’ll take advantage of this deal. I’m also not sure what we’d spend $15 on just to get a free sandwich!
Are you a fan of Popeye’s Chicken Sandwich? If so, do you plan to redeem this offer?

cr- You’re free to share your opinion but I don’t have to agree with it.
JJ- Your opinion. All of the details can’t fit in the title. Maybe the expiration date should be in the title too?
Dan- I hear ya. I’d love a straight up free sandwich but these are the terms. The Wendy’s offer is quite a bit more generous since all you need to do is make a purchase.
cr- Clickbait to you is a free sandwich for others who follow the terms of the offer. And yes it is free, with a $15 purchase. I didn’t create the promo, just sharing it.
It’s CLICK BAIT because there was no reference to the minimum purchase on the title.
Please learn from this.
Clickbait, pure and simple. “Free chicken sandwich”, but it’s not.
