In 2013, Kim, Lucas and I headed to Germany primarily to attend Oktoberfest in Munich. (Check out my post, Should You Take Your Toddler To Oktoberfest.)
I’d consider it possibly the greatest event and party that you can attend in the world! At some point and if my work schedule permits, I’d love to head to Munich again for this incredible event.
If you were planning to attend Munich’s Oktoberfest in 2020, sadly, you’ll have to wait. The event was canceled this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
With social distancing going on worldwide to help stop the spread of coronavirus, the city decided that it would be best to cancel the two-week long event.
OktoberfestI was scheduled to take place from September 19- October 4. This is a huge economic loss for the city as it “brings in 1 billion euros ($1.1 billion),” according to Reuters.
While some of the coronavirus safety measures have started to be eased, big events are canceled throughout Germany until August 31.
I was discussing the cancelation with my brother (he joined us on our Oktoberfest visit.) I suggested that we consider doing a virtual Oktoberfest in the future! I’d even consider breaking out my lederhosen to wear for the virtual event.
It hasn’t been worn since we attended Tulsa’s Oktoberfest in October 2014. (Check out my posts about the event, Day 1 and Day 2.)
Have you visited Munich for this epic beer-centric event? Would you like to attend?
