I recently redeemed 60,000 Hilton Honors points for a two-night award stay.
It wasn’t the ideal redemption since I prefer to use my points to help bring down the cost of our international trips. However, we needed a hotel for a visit to see my niece at college and we were stuck without many options.
In the end, we found that redeeming the Hilton points well worth it. If we didn’t use them, we wouldn’t have been able to go away with family since the room costs were way too high.
I recently received an e-mail from Hilton with the subject, “Want to earn Points back- FAST?” Sure, I’m interested… But what does the hotel brand have in mind???
Hilton had two suggestions to help us earn some points back but both weren’t overly exciting.
- Earn 1,000 bonus points when you link and ride with Lyft
- Earn 15K points per credit card referral, up to 80K points
I might end up linking my account with Lyft but the problem is that I rarely use Lyft so I can’t see earning many points this way.
It would be awesome to earn some referral points for credit card sign-ups. However, there was a problem. When I signed into my Amex account, it said my card wasn’t eligible!
Final Thoughts:
While it would’ve been nice to have some quick and easy ways to earn more points, this does not seem to be the case. If I need more Hilton points, my best option will be to transfer Amex Membership rewards points in an emergency.
