Philly Cheesesteak Fav Tony Luke’s Opening In NYC

Philly cheesesteak
(Not from Tony Luke’s)

Philadelphia ranks as one of our favorite cities to visit if we want to get away for a day or two. Its close to home (Brooklyn, NY) and has enough to do to keep us busy.

One of the main draws for us when visiting Philadelphia, is the food, including the popular Philly Cheesesteak.

During our most recent visit, we tried and conquered the Philly Taco.

There are countless places to visit which serve a good Philly cheesesteak. Popular spots like Pats and Gino’s are fine but not our favorites. (I’d probably consider my favs to be served at Jim’s Steaks and at John’s Roast Pork.)

I’ve yet to find a really great Philly cheesesteak served in NYC but that could be changing soon.

Eater reports that one of the favorite shops from Philadelphia plans to open up shop in New York. Tony Luke’s has plans to open seven locations around the NYC area!

The first location will be opening in Brooklyn next month at 6 Flatbush Avenue between Nevins and Fulton Streets. There will also be locations opening in each of the other boroughs as well as in Yonkers and Long Island.

Kim and I visited Tony Luke’s one time, quite a few years back. I recall not loving their Philly cheesesteak. However, I only tried it one time and would be more than happy to give it another try, especially since its opening close to home!

Are you a fan of the Philly cheesesteak? If so, do you have an favorite shops in Philadelphia?

  1. Tony Luke’s has an amazing pork sandwich with provolone , broccoli rabe and spinach (on a long roll, of course). Better than the cheese steak. BTW, for the best cheese steak, I prefer Jim’s. Wid (fried onions and cheese whiz)
