An Air India plane got into a little accident at the airport and it wasn’t with another plane.
The plane was taking off from Trichy (Tiruchirappalli, the geographic centre of Tamil Nadu according to Lonely Planet) and heading to Dubai when it hit an airport wall.
There were 130 passengers and six crew members on board the Boeing 737 at the time of the incident. The flight ended up being diverted to Mumbai.
USA Today mentions that posts on social media “showed the plane with a shredded underbelly” and there were also photos shared showing damage to the wall.
Air India is currently investigating the two pilots who are currently grounded. Between the two of them, they have over 6,500 hours of flying experience.
Luckily, besides damage to the plane and wall, no passengers or crew were injured.
