Two McDonalds customers hung a fake poster in one of the chain’s locations “after noticing a lack of Asian representation in the marketing materials.”
The poster stayed up in the Pearland, Texas McDonalds location for 51 days. The funniest part is that it only got noticed when they posted about it on Twitter. Who knows how much longer it would’ve stayed up if they hadn’t wrote about it!
Their Twitter post went viral and they’re now getting rewarded by McDonalds!
The duo, Jehv Maravilla, 21 Christian Toledo, 25 were eating at McD’s one day when they noticed posters with various races hanging besides Asians.
They came up with a great plan to get their likeness hung up in the store.
In order to hang up their sign, they had to fit in. Maravilla and Toledo bought McDonald’s uniforms at Goodwill and made fake name badges. They worried that they might get in trouble but it last for 51 days, like I mentioned above.
During an appearance on The Ellen Degeneres Show, they found out that McDonald’s wanted to better represent Asians and will feature the duo in a marketing campaign in the future. They’re also going to pay each of them $25,000!
The fake photo was taken down supposedly for renovations. Its now going to be auctioned off and the money will go to the Ronald McDonald House.
