I first heard about Voodoo Doughnuts thanks to one of the travel- related food shows years back. What I most recalled were the Voodoo doll shaped doughnuts as well as those topped with cereal and other interesting things.
In October 2016 the Michael W Travels family took a trip to Portland, Oregon. During the visit, I finally got to try Voodoo Doughnuts.I expected them to be overrated and all hype but their doughnuts are actually really tasty and creative. They were so good that we decided to make a stop at Voodoo Too to try more of their tasty doughnuts before the end of our trip.
Besides the two Portland locations that we visited, there are six other shops including a cart in Portland and locations in Eugene, OR, Denver, Austin, and Hollywood, CA.
(While in Austin over winter break we planned to stop at Voodoo. We didn’t get a chance though primarily due to being full from so much great Austin food!)
The eighth location of Voodoo Doughnuts and first on the East Coast is currently in preview. The shop is located in Orlando, Florida at the Universal City Walk at Universal Orlando Resort.
T+L writes that the shop is already generating half hour lines.
When I first heard that Voodoo was opening on the East Coast, I hoped that the shop would be located somewhere in the NYC area. It’s definitely a bummer that it isn’t. Maybe the brand will look to expand further and someday make its way to NYC.
