I’ve had very good luck winning a variety of travel contests in recent years.
My biggest win to date came recently when I won a trip for 2 to Hawaii from Billabong!

Last week I entered a contest through Twitter. Best Western was celebrating #InternationalHappinessDay with the giveaway of a $100 Best Western gift card.
Entering was simple- all you had to do was respond to a tweet to enter for a shot at the prize. Best Western wanted to know, “Who you would take on vacation with you.”
This wasn’t a hard question to answer.
I responded, “Easy- my wife and two little guys!”
Like most of these contests, I forgot that I had even entered. Then last night, I saw a tweet from @BestWestern with some awesome news.
“We hope a $100 BW gift card spreads #BWsmiles to you and your family! Congratulations @MichaelWTravels, please DM us your email address to receive your card.”
While $100 towards a hotel might not sound like much, I’d hope to get one free hotel night. That’s really not bad for sending a tweet which took less than 20 seconds!
I always feel that it pays to enter these kind of contests. Odds aren’t great that you’ll win but then again, you never know, somebody’s got to win the prize!
