Last week I wrote about how Anthony Bourdain now had a Parts Unknown website.
Over the past couple of years, the biggest Anthony Bourdain news has been about his upcoming Bourdain Market in NYC. The market has seen a slew of delays and should’ve opened by now. What’s unknown is if and when it will ever open.
In yet another blow to the Anthony Bourdain Market project, CEO Stephen Werther has stepped down “to pursue a new business,” according to Eater.
This might not sound like a big deal but Werther has been involved with Bourdain in the project since 2014. He has also “lead its long-running real estate negotiations, among other responsibilities“.
The market was supposed to open back in 2015. Then the date was pushed to some time in 2017. Now the market is projected to open in 2019. Talk about a crazy amount of delays.
While the location for the market was announced in 2015, according to Eater “Bourdain has yet to sign a lease with the developers“.
So will the market ever open at the Super Pier? Who knows…
A new CEO for the Anthony Bourdain Market has not been named yet. Hopefully this won’t lead to more delays.
