The World Trade Center Oculus opened almost a year back. I haven’t had a chance to visit this architectural gem but I have driven past it a few times.
Yesterday morning tragedy struck when a woman fell 30 feet off of an escalator at the WTC Oculus.
The EMS showed up around 5 AM after reports of a fall. The 29 year-old woman was “taken to Bellevue Hospital in critical condition,” according to PIX11.com.
Here is what took place. The victim, Jenny Santos, from Kearny, New Jersey was on one of the escalators at the World Trade Center Oculus with her sister. She leaned over to retrieve a hat that fell off but she ended up falling sideways close to 30 feet down to the main concourse floor.
“Port Authority police are investigating the incident” according to WPIX.

John Duronio, Jay, Max & Scott Garanflo- Fixed it earlier. Thanks for the heads up though. (Teaches me not to write posts super- late at night!) 🙂
Fell from from an ESCALATOR…
not an elevator
I think you meant escalator not elevator
Escalator. There is no way to fall out of the elevators.
Escalator, not elevator. Title should be corrected.
