What’s the best part of Halloween? Is it getting dressed up or getting to go trick or treating? If we were to run a poll, my guess would be that both options would get their fair share of votes.
Based on a video I came across, I think Southwest’s CEO Gary Kelly would choose dressing up in awesome costumes.
According to a video from the Dallas Morning News, this will be Kelly’s 30th Halloween at Southwest and he’s running out of things to do.
Each year Kelly dresses up in some amazing and creative costumes. Some he picks out himself and others have been chosen for him. While watching the video you definitely get the idea.
In his first year as CEO in 2004, Kelly dressed as Gene Simmons of the band KISS.
One of his favorite costumes ever was when he dressed up as Frankenstein. Talk about some pretty impressive makeup!
He’s also dressed as Captain Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean.
There were also some pretty scary costumes and no I don’t mean spooky .
Check out Gary Kelly as Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz. He also dressed up one year as Edna Turnblad from Hairspray which was selected for him. (Since I’ve never seen Hairspray, I can’t say that I’ve heard of Edna Turnblad before.)
Other years he’s dressed as ZZ Top, the Mad Hatter and as a member of The Beatles…

Do you have any plans or a costume picked out for Halloween?
This year we’ll be doing something different which sounds like a lot of fun. We’ll be heading to the American Museum of Natural History for their 20th Annual Halloween Celebration. Our costumes are already picked out and I’ll post some photos from our day at the AMNH in a future post!
