I’m excited to see that Shake Shack’s 4th annual Great American Shake Sale is back for the month of May.
Not only does Shake Shack make awesome burgers, hot dogs, fries and shakes, they also like to give back. They’re trying to do their part to help end childhood hunger in America by offering a free shake to those that donate $2 (or more) to No Kid Hungry.
The Great American Shake Sale takes place at all U.S. Shacks excluding stadiums and airports.
In 2014 Shake Shack set a goal to raise $300,000 and ended up raising $38,000 more than that goal. For 2015, they are hoping to raise at least $350,000! If Shake Shack reaches it’s goal they will have donated $1 million to No Kid Hungry since starting the event just four years back. Pretty impressive!
One $2 donation can be used to provide 20 meals for kids. That means if Shake Shack reaches its goal of raising $350,000, 3.5 million meals will come from their fundraising efforts.
When donating $2 at Shake Shack for No Kid Hungry you’ll receive a coupon card good for one free shake (a $5 value) on your next visit. I’d recommend getting a chocolate- peanut butter shake, it’s pretty delicious and I know that my little guy Lucas would agree! 🙂
According to Shake Shack, “The Great American Shake Sale was inspired by Bake Sale for No Kid Hungry, a national grassroots fundraising initiative started in 2003 that encourages people to host bake sales in their communities to support No Kid Hungry“.
Since the Great American Shake Sale is inspired by bake sales, Shake Shack will offer five bakery-inspired flavors frozen custard flavors.
Special flavors being offered are:
- Oatmeal Creme Pie (offered May 1 – 3)
- Red Velvet: May 4 – 10
- Cookies N’ Chocolaty Cream: May 11 – 17
- Caramel Walnut Cake: May 18 – 24
- Strawberry Cheesecake: May 25- 31
The special flavors don’t really interest me much but I would like to give the Cookies N’ Chocolaty Cream a try.
Are you planning to stop by Shake Shack to support their No Kid Hungry campaign? I definitely do plan to buy 5 – 10 of the shake coupon cards! (The cards have an expiration date on them but I was told last year that they do not expire.)
