Odds are highly likely that if you are reading my blog as well others on BoardingArea you love two things- traveling and finding a great deal.
When picking travel destinations, do costs at that destination (whether it be high or low) play a factor in choosing it?
For us it isn’t a major factor, it’s more about picking a place we want to visit to diversify our travel experiences while other times it might be a great deal on the airfare that popped up (aka a mistake fare).
I will say though- when the costs are cheaper, it can certainly makes a destination much more enjoyable.
When thinking of relative travel bargains, I’d pick Central America and Southeast Asia as two of the better places to visit to find a deal.
USA Today’s 10Best took a look at Places to find a travel bargain in 2015.
In the article, USA Today says “Quite often, bargains are fueled by political and economic events, and short-lived“.

- Vietnam
- Indonesia
- Canada
If I was to suggest some areas to find a deal, I’d definitely recommend countries in Eastern Europe like the Balkans, a region that we’ve visited the past two summers. Otherwise, I’d go with the areas I mentioned above.
