Over the summer I wrote about how Spirit Airlines was giving away 1,000,000,000 miles.
This is how the offer worked: members could receive 8,000 miles for sharing something they hate about Spirit or any other airline.
This promo got a lot of coverage and was definitely a fun way to get some free miles. (Mine were pretty much wasted on magazines that I barely have time to read!)
The time has now come for Spirit to share the feedback they received. To do so they put together a State of the Hate Report!
The report is shared in a 4 minute+ (pretty funny) video reported by a bunch of muppet-like puppets.
The hate wasn’t all bad for Spirit as 60% of the hate ended up being directed at other airlines.
Some key points of the video:
- More than 28,000 people hate on airlines
- 5% Hate the Food
- 15% Hate the Delays
- 20% Hate the Airplane Seats
People use dirty words when talking about airlines:
- Suck was used 914 times
- Arse, 370 times
- Crap, 201 times
- S-Word, 113 times
- F-Bomb, 75 times
They also shared some key words and thoughts that people felt about other airlines. (Find out about them in the State of the Hate video and the graphic below.)
At the end of the video they let us know that you can still send in the hate to earn 8,000 Spirit miles.
Find out more about Spirit’s State of the Hate Report here and if you didn’t send in your hate yet, you can do so at the bottom of the page and then earn 8,000 miles!
What airline do you hate the most?
I can’t say that I have a definitive answer but United would rank very high on my list due to extremely rude customer service, a lack of response to social media and no priority boarding for families traveling with young children.
