When it comes to our accommodations we’re usually not too picky. We’ve stayed in all kinds of rooms from fancy hotels, to simple guest houses, motels, airbnb and our usual favorite- hostels.
My main goal, when picking where to stay is to not waste too much money but still find a place in a convenient location (with decent wifi). For us, a hotel is just a place to catch some sleep and take a shower (and write a blog post). The hotel experience is not the focus of our trip and we usually spend very little time in the room. This philosophy did change a bit once we had Lucas. Some simple things we now appreciate include a decent amount of space to move around, a bathtub (Lucas hates showers) and a refrigerator.
When it comes to rooms with a view, that’s always an easy decision. If the option is a pricier room with a view or the cheaper inside room, there is never a debate and we go with the cheaper option.

Some of the views are spectacular while I felt that others weren’t so amazing. Maybe it’s hard to tell from a small photo and they are really impressive. I doubt that I’ll ever splurge to find out unless the price happens to be right!
Here are a few of my favorites:
Do you value a room with a great view? If so, are you will to pay more for it?

The views don’t look bad but I would be hard pressed to say they are the best in the world.
We recently stayed at the Park Hyatt in Beijing and the views were amazing.
The Komaneka at Tanggayuda in Bali is absolutely amazing too.
Even something as simple as the Hyatt in Park City, UT has great views.
Good views are important to us since we often travel with kids and it’s nice to be able to enjoy the view from the room while the kids are taking their naps or going to bed earlier than we are.
Erica- All of these lists are fun to read but definitely subjective.
I like the reason why you find the views to be important!
