My favorite sport has always been baseball. Through the good and mostly bad, I’ve always stayed loyal to my favorite team, the New York Mets. Over the last few years (20+?), there hasn’t been much to cheer about but at least when I was a little kid the Mets were the talk of the town. Damn ,1986 was such a long time ago!. 

I told Kim that I had to take Lucas to a baseball game before the season was over so I contacted my friend Matt who works for the Mets. It’s actually a pretty cool story how we met (and travel related).

Kim and I flew business class to Italy a couple of years back using our British Airways miles. The taxes were a bit high but it was still a great deal and an awesome trip. When we got on our first flight there were less than 10 people sitting upstairs in business. Kim and I were taking pictures as were a few others. A guy sitting across from us took some pictures for us and we did so for him and his friend. We started chatting and stayed in touch. It turned out that the guy (Matt) worked for the Mets. I was invited to come to a game in the future and finally took Matt up on his offer a couple of days ago.

Although the Mets lost the game, we had a lot of fun. I am glad that I got to take Lucas to a game before his first birthday (he actually turned 8 months old on the day of the game).
I think he’ll be going to his second in about 10 days from now!

One of the few things that the Mets got right in recent years was their relatively new ballpark- Citi Field. It’s a great stadium that has a nice, old time feel to it.
It also doesn’t hurt having Shake Shack inside!
