I’ve been wanting to visit the Intrepid for years and never got around to it. A tour of the Concorde is enough of a reason to visit but with the space shuttle Enterprise finding it’s new home there, how could you not want to check it out.
In November 2011 NASA transferred the title of space shuttle Enterprise to the Intrepid Museum. In the spring of 2012 the shuttle will be flown from DC to JFK airport by ferry-flight aboard a 747 NASA Shuttle Carrier Aircraft. It will then be transported by barge during the summer to the Intrepid.
The Enterprise will be placed on the Intrepid’s flight deck under a protective covering. Visitors will have the opportunity to see the shuttle while visiting the Intrepid.
I’m definitely looking forward to visting the Interpid to see the Concorde and Enterprise in the near future!
