With 2015 moving quickly to a close, many travel sites and companies are releasing their picks for places to visit in 2016.
So far we found out about:
- AAA’s Most Popular Destinations for International Travel 2016
- Lonely Planet Best in Travel 2016
- Frommer’s Best Places To Go 2016
- Fodor’s Places To Go 2016
While these lists don’t really influence where Kim, Lucas and I travel, they are fun to read to get ideas and learn about some that I’ve never heard of before.
The Travel Channel recently shared their picks of 11 Great Destinations for 2016.
I was definitely curious to see which places made the cut. Here they are:
- Bolivia
- The Republic of Georgia
- Cuba
- Coastal Cambodia
- Myanmar
- Uganda
- The Philippines
- Birmingham, AL
- Poland
- Estonia
- Sardinia, Italy
From the list, Kim and I have visited three of the places. Lucas was with us back in April when we spent some time in Myanmar. Kim and I loved trekking to see mountain gorillas and also saw some other amazing wildlife in Uganda in 2010. We also had a great time exploring Estonia and other Baltics countries back in 2007.
We’ll be heading to Cuba for our last trip of 2015 and it will wrap up a few days into the new year. So it looks like we will make it to at least one of the Travel Channel’s great destinations in 2016! 🙂
I found some of the destinations on the list pretty interesting since they were places I’ve talked about visiting over the years. The Philippines has been high on my list as has Bolivia and Poland for quite some time. I’ve also talked about using some Southwest points to visit Birmingham, Alabama, a city that I’ve read is quite interesting.
