Lonely Planet is known for its guidebooks and you’re bound to see travelers everywhere you go with a copy.
While guidebooks might be LP’s bread and butter, they also publish a wide variety of other books. There’s a collection of kids books and titles like Ultimate Travel and the annual Best in Travel among many others.
Now another form of Lonely Planet is available in the U.S.
Lonely Planet Magazine just launched in the US on November 3.
Since I’m such a big fan of Lonely Planet, I’m pretty excited about this new product. I’m hoping to get my hands on the first issue soon.
The magazine will be a quarterly travel magazine which sounds like a good move. In recent years, when I get monthly magazines, they tend to build up in pile. I’m not sure what I save them for but I rarely get around to reading them. I feel that a quarterly would be much more appealing for me to want to read.
According to a press release I received, “the magazine provides inspiration and insider information to help readers take informed and memorable trips“. It will be “created by an in-house team based out of Lonely Planet offices near Nashville, Tennessee“.
The first issue is the Winter issue. It will include “an island-hopping ‘Great Escape’ itinerary through Hawaii, a ‘Need to know’ guide to traveling to Cuba, ‘5 spots to talk about right now,’ ‘10 new ways to fall in love with Rome’ and ‘What to eat in Nashville.’”
Print copies of the magazine will retail for $5.99 around the U.S. at places like Barnes & Noble, Hudson Booksellers, Whole Foods. A digital version will be coming out soon at the same price.
The best deal and one that I’m considering, is to subscribe and get 4 issues for $8. If you’re interested in subscribing, you can do so here.
So what do you think? Are you interested or curious to check out the new Lonely Planet U.S. magazine?
