A woman that worked at JFK airport cleaning American Airlines planes apparently had a case of sticky fingers.
The 48 year old woman, a contract worker with AirServ was arrested and charged with taking $15,000 worth of items from the very planes that she had the responsibility of cleaning.
The charges are pretty serious- grand larceny and criminal possession of stolen property according to the AP in an article on USAToday.com. The article also mentioned that AirServ confirmed firing the woman due to this.
The case got started when a “witness tipped off American Airlines security officials” about the woman stealing the items from the planes.
The woman was questioned and her apartment was searched. It’s pretty crazy to hear what was found- “1,429 mini-bottles of unopened liquor, seven iPads, two laptops, 19 Kindle tablets and a “large amount” of various toiletries” (according to the Daily News).
The thefts took place over three years and she could now be facing seven years in prison if convicted of the crime.
The oddest thing is that the bottles weren’t taken to be sold and it doesn’t seem like she’s been drinking them either… The woman “appeared to be hoarding them according to the NY Post.
