I received an e-mail from Uber NYC about a new service being offered and it sounds like it could be useful for many people.
uberX has a new member in its family, uberXL.
If you need more space than the average taxi or uberX car can fit, check out Uber’s new service uberXL. Cars can hold up to 6 passengers.
According to uber “you can expect pickups from Toyota Highlanders, Honda Pilots, Nissan Pathfinders and more.”
Uber claims that uberX is still cheaper than a NYC taxi. I’m not a good person to ask about the price of a taxi since whenever we are in Manhattan we walk or take the train. I can’t recall the last time I’ve stepped foot inside a cab in NYC!
Along with a bigger car comes a bigger price with uberXL.
Here is a price comparison between uber X & XL:
Looking over the price chart, if you need the room for an extra person or 2, the price difference doesn’t look so bad. I look at it this way- if you were to need a second car/ taxi it would cost double the price, with uberXL you areonly paying 50% more for the 5th & 6th passengers.
How to get uberXL:
So what do you think is uberXL worth it or a big rip-off? From what I can tell, it looks like a pretty decent option if you need the extra space.
