Rights campaigners condemned a video showing women from a protected and primitive tribe on India’s Andaman Islands dancing for food for tourists. They were told to do so by a policeman.
(The video was taken by a tourist and posted on the British paper The Guardian’s website)
The Jarawa tribe is among the first people to migrate successfully from Africa to Asia. Coming into contact and photographing the Jarawa and other ancient tribal groups is illegal due to an Indian law created to protect those susceptible to outside influence and disease.
