I recently received an interesting e-mail from IHG One Rewards.
The subject line read, “You’ve been to how many countries?!” I wasn’t sure if the hotel program was actually asking me a question which required a response. lol
When I opened the e-mail, I learned some interesting info which I never thought of before.
It turns out that IHG was letting me know that I’ve stayed at properties in 10 different countries since joining their rewards program. Pretty cool!
The e-mail also let me know that “there’s no doubt you’re one of our most well-traveled members. We can’t wait to cross another destination off your bucket list.”
I now wonder how many countries I’ve stayed at other hotels brands with!
As for IHG’s subject line, I’ve currently been to 121 UN countries with one more being visited in a few days from now… 🙂
Derek- The UN member list might not be perfect but that’s what I go with.
UN countries is not a good definition of what is a country. Taiwan and the Vatican are not UN countries. Even Germany and Switzerland were not UN countries for many years.
Germany did not join the UN until 1973. Liechtenstein didn’t join until 1990 even though it was around for many, many years. It was even involved in saving troops in WW2, being a neutral country. Switzerland joined the UN in 2002. Nobody says Switzerland was not a country until 2002.
