Back in 2014, I wrote about a crazy expensive IHG Anniversary Free Night we weren’t going to book. The booking was for New Years Eve at a property in New York City.

After getting back from our summer trip to Africa and the new school year, Kim and I didn’t do a great job of keeping track of our hotel free nights.

Thanks to an alert from Award Wallet, we found out that Kim had a Hyatt Free Night expiring on December 31, 2022.

With no trips currently planned, I decided to look into a great time to use this soon to expire free night- New Years Eve!

After failing to find a good deal for a flight over winter break (we weren’t looking to go back to somewhere we’ve been), our plan was to drive somewhere during our time off.

One of our favorite places to visit close to home is Philadelphia. I’ve wanted to check out the Hyatt Centric Center City Philly for some time so this was the perfect opportunity.

I did a quick search and was happy to see that the hotel was available!

Hyatt Centric Center City Philadelphia is a Category 4 property which was going for 18K points per night for NYE. When I did my search, the room had a paid rate of $286 for a total of $332.05 with tax for New Years Eve!

Considering the Hyatt credit card has a $95 annual fee, booking a room which costs over $300 for a night is definitely a deal!
