Putting Green, An Awesome New Mini Golf Course For Good In Brooklyn

mini golfMonths back, I came across a Time Out NY article about a new mini golf course coming to the Williamsburg (Brooklyn) waterfront this summer.

We visit Williamsburg pretty often, so I kept an eye out for more info as to when the new mini golf course would open. Not only would mini golf be fun for the kids, the course also would be doing some good in a couple of ways.

A few days back, we headed over to Putting Green Mini Golf.

The price to play is very reasonable at $10 for adults and $5 for kids/ seniors. On certain days & times, the price is reduced to $5 for adults and $2 for kids/ seniors (like when we went on Wednesday afternoon).

Even more impressive is that all profits will be donated to local organizations addressing climate change in NYC.

The course features 18 holes (one was actually either not finished or in need of repair) which “showcase the problems and solutions for some of the most pressing climate change issues facing our planet.” My kids were very excited to play a round on the course! The 18 holes on the course were designed by community partners giving each one a unique design and look.

Hole 1 was pretty cool. Down the Drain focused on litter that gets washed down the drains and how it affects water and marine life. The litter on the course looked very real and definitely fooled us for a moment!Hole 4: Higher Ground focused on the shifting shorelines of Manhattan showing the projected impacts of seal level rise by 2100.

A few of our other favorites:

Overall, Putting Green is a fun inexpensive way to spend some time playing mini golf in the city while learning about climate change. The views along the course are pretty incredible too! Even better is the fact that profits are being donated back to local communities.

Putting Green is located at River Street and North 1st Street in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
