The state of Texas has recently been hit hard by cold temperatures and water shortages.
A fire broke on Friday night in a Hilton Garden Inn in Killeen, packed with guests, “many of whom were fleeing storm conditions at home“, according to the New York Post.
Firefighters responded to the scene at around 9:00pm and were able to put the blaze out by 10:00pm. This was no small fire as the flames caused the hotel’s roof to collapse.
Besides the guests seeking refuge at the hotel to get away from the storm conditions, there were also some soldiers from the Fort Hood military base staying there.
All of the guests were evacuated from the Hilton and then rebooked at nearby hotels. Luckily, no injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire was not known and fire officials are investigating.
