2,500 Citi ThankYou Points For Adding Authorized User

Citi ThankYou PointsI recently received an offer in the mail where I can earn 2,500 Citi ThankYou points for adding an authorized user.

To earn the bonus, the authorized user also needs to spend $2,500 with the card from now until 12/31/17.

Adding an authorized user requires the person’s name, birthdate and address.

Although Citi doesn’t ask for the authorized user’s social security number, the T&Cs state that, “we may report account performance to the credit reporting agencies in the authorized user’s name.” Based on this, I wonder if the card will show up on the authorized user’s credit report?

There is a limit of one bonus award of 2,500 Citi ThankYou points so no, you can not add multiple authorized users.

Do I plan to try to earn the bonus? Quick answer- no.

Why not? While 2,500 Citi ThankYou points for adding an authorized user sounds like a solid bonus, I just don’t want to put $2,500 in spend on the card. I’ve already used up the bulk of the points in my account so I’d rather put that spend on another card.

Did you receive this offer from Citi? If not, you can try to sign up for the bonus for adding an authorized userΒ citi.com/authorizeduser. You can also try calling the number on the back of your card.

What do you think? Is it worth adding an authorized user and putting $2,500 in spend on your Citi ThanYou card to earn 2,500 bonus points?
