Uber has become the go-to option for many people to get around. One city is even subsidizing Uber rides.
However, there have been many instances where drivers have tried to take passengers for a bit more than a ride…
Uber drivers have:
- Taken a passed out woman on a $293 ride.
- Been accused of rape.
- Driven drove through the closed Lincoln Tunnel.
- Been arrested for injuring a service dog.
- One passenger got charged $200 for fake vomit in the car.
Recently, a drunk Uber passenger got more than he bargained for. In London, the passenger fell asleep during what should’ve been a 4-mile ride. Instead the driver wanted to jack up the cost of the journey, taking him on a 20-mile trip!
The following morning, the passenger couldn’t believe what he saw when he looked at the route taken to get him home.
The rider was charged around $150 for what should’ve been approximately a $20 trip home. (If you look at the image above, you’ll see how the driver went to the destination driving in a huge circle.)
The good news is that Uber investigated the situation and gave the passenger a full refund.
I’d love to know if the driver faced any fine, suspension or even a ban from driving for the company.
