Southwest is offering targeted credit card holders a bonus offer this holiday season.
I received an offer for my Chase Southwest Rapid Rewards Visa personal card. With the offer, I can earn 3,000 bonus Rapid Rewards points for spending $6,000 on my card in a limited amount of time.
This works out to a bonus of .5 points per $1. Let’s find out more of the details.
Like I stated above, I can earn a bonus of 3,000 Rapid Rewards points. Not bad but it takes a pretty signicifant spend to earn those points.
To earn the bonus, I need to spend $6,000 with my card from now until January 31, 2016.
The terms & conditions state that I need to enroll in the offer by 1/31/16 11:59 p.m. ET. I wonder if this means that you can enroll in the offer after already completing some spend, which would then count towards the $6,000 total needed? (I’m pretty sure it does.)
Points should post to accounts 6 to 8 weeks after qualifying for bonus points.
Like I stated above, this is a targeted offer. “This promotional offer is non-transferable and applies only to the account ending in the last 4 digits referenced in this offer“.
Will I try to earn the bonus?
Quick answer: No.
Why not?
I find a $6,000 spend to be a pretty hefty requirement to earn 3,000 bonus points for. I currently have the Southwest Companion Pass and a good amount of points which I haven’t had a chance to use. I see putting $6,000 in spend better used to help complete the spend needed for signup bonuses or with other cards.
Did you receive a holiday bonus offer from your Southwest Rapid Rewards card? If so, what did you receive and do you plan on earning it?
My offer was spend $6000 and receive 5000 points.
PJ- The offer doesn’t say whether or not bonus points count for the Companion Pass. My guess woud be that they do not count due to the fact that bonuses earned for flying Southwest don’t count towards it.
I received targeted offer of spend $10,000 get 5000 bonus points. I don’t know whether or not these points would go toward companion pass.
