Many of you have heard of the movie Snakes on a Plane and there have been a couple of incidents this year of scorpions on a plane. You can read about them here and here.
Now there are koalas on a plane…
To celebrate Singapore’s 50th anniversary of independence, four cuddly and cute koalas were gifted to the country by Lone Pine Sanctuary in Brisbane, Australia.
So you’re a quartet of koalas and you need to get to Singapore. What to do, what to do?
You might as well fly there in style in Qantas’ First Class! OK, all joking aside, the koalas really did fly on Qantas but it was actually in the plane’s cargo hold in a custom built container. However, they didn’t go down under until they had a photo-shoot in First.
According the the NY Post, “Qantas agreed not only to fly the koalas to and from Singapore, but also to fly a fresh batch of eucalyptus leaves from Australia to the zoo twice weekly“.
Once the koalas arrive at the Singapore Zoo, they’ll “reside in a world class, purpose-built koala exhibit,” according to a press release by Julie Bishop, the Australian minister for foreign affairs“.
