With the expiration date fast approaching for my IHG Free Night, I decided to redeem it for a stay at the Kimpton Schofield Hotel in Cleveland, Ohio.
The redemption seemed like a pretty solid deal as the room would’ve cost $281.06 (with tax) for the stay.
Sadly, there was no Kimpton Secret Password active to say but we did get a $10 Raid the Bar credit which the kids used on some candy and a drink.
While checking in, there was no mention of Welcome Amenity Points. I didn’t think that perk went away but I also didn’t think much about it or ask.
A few days after our stay, I received a familiar e-mail from IHG One Rewards with the subject, “Your welcome amenity points are available.”
The rest of the e-mail stated, “As a valued IHG One Rewards member, your 600 welcome amenity points have been deposited in your account for your stay at Kimpton Schofield Hotel.”
I still find it odd that IHG gives welcome amenity points for award stays and free night redemptions but I’ll take it.
N0, 600 points isn’t much but it’s a nice gesture by the program considering how much they all keep taking away.
