Paying for NYC parking meters has been a real pain in recent years.
Rather than pay for a meter right by your car, you need to seek out a muni-meter box, sometimes close to a block away to pay. Then you have to walk back to your car to put the receipt in the window, wasting quite a bit of time.
Well now paying for meters is about to change for the better.
According to Gothamist, there will soon be “a 21st century upgrade“.
A payment option for mobile devices will soon be coming out for all of the city’s 85,000 metered parking spots. This new option is supposed to be available by the end of 2016.
The new mobile option “will allow drivers to pay for parking and add time to meters from their cell phones“. Another interesting benefit will be the ability to get refunded for extra time paid for when you leave a spot early!
