Uber is back with another fun, yet extremely pricey holiday promotion.
For Valentine’s Day, Uber has teamed up with Mastercard & Airsign to offer On-Demand SkyWriting to New York City.
UberSky will be available for $500!
Yes, you read that right $500! I’ve never looked into skywriting so I have no idea whether or not this is a high or low-cost, then again based on what I am reading, I don’t think I ever will.
How to book UberSky:
- Open Uber between 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM today, February 14
- Think up a good message (12 characters max.)
- If available, request UberSky
- Confirm the $500 price and wait for the Uber rep to call you
- Tell them your message and the rep will let you know when you should expect to see your message in the sky
According to Uber: Demand will be high, so please be persistent if you’re unable to order skywriting on your first try. (Hint: If you’re a MasterCard holder, we’d strongly suggest adding that card to your Uber account and using it to purchase UberSKY—you might just find that your skywriting experience is truly priceless.)
I was wondering how Mastercard was involved and it sounds like, from the info Uber provided that if you pay with a Mastercard there will be a valuable benefit. Maybe they’ll pick up the tab for your UberSky? Just a guess!
Uber asks that people tweet pics of UberSky messages using hashtag #SkysTheLimit
So who in the NYC area is willing to pay $500 for skywriting? Not me…
If you aren’t already signed up for an Uber account use my code ubermichaelwtravels to sign up.You will get $20 off your first ride and I will get $20 in Uber credit.
Happy Valentine’s Day to everyone from Lake Como, Italy.
