I recently wrote about one of the odder stories I’ve come across in a while.

The owner of the Dream Hotel NYC, Vikram Chatwal was wanted by the NYPD for allegedly lighting a couple of dogs on fire outside his SoHo home.

It was originally reported that when the police arrived at Chatwal’s home, he wasn’t home.

According to Gothamist, Chatwal turned himself in to the police yesterday morning. He is facing charges of criminal mischief, animal cruelty, reckless endangerment, and arson. He came to the 5th Precinct in Chinatown with a lawyer.

The Dream Hotel NYC owner allegedly committed the crimes on Friday afternoon so I wonder why it took him days to turn himself in?

If Chatwal is guilty of the crimes (it sure sounds like he is based on the info from Gothamist) I wonder what kind of fine or penalties he’ll face.

Find out more from Gothamist here.
