Hotel Review: Kimpton Palomar Philadelphia

Kimpton PalomarThe Michael W Travels family makes it a point to visit Philadelphia at least once per year. At around two hours drive from home, the city makes for a quick and fun getaway.

On previous visits, we’ve stayed at the Kimpton Monaco and a Fairfield Inn & Suites that reminded us of a Kimpton.

We’ve wanted to check out the Kimpton Palomar for quite some time and finally stayed there recently.

At check-in, we got to use the Kimpton Secret Password and were pretty happy with what we received.a collage of a hotelBefore heading up to our room, we checked out the stylish lobby area. We loved the decor which featured three, different color Benjamin Franklin busts. The small seating area and fireplace were very nice too!a man in a maskWe found the elevators to be quirky and a lot of fun. It was nice that the mini-fridge was empty (due to COVID-19). We were able to use it without needing to have to emptied first.

The shower offered good pressure but it was nothing that stood out. I’d expect a hotel the caliber of a Kimpton to have a more high-end shower head.

As I always mention, a hand-held shower head would really be ideal, especially when you’re traveling with kids.

The Atelier Bloom soaps were nice, especially the Oolong Tea shampoo. Full size bottles which were not locked down were in the shower.

Final Thoughts:

We really enjoyed our stay at the Kimpton Palomar. We found the room to be a bit bland compared to the style of the Kimpton Monaco (which is just a 25 minute walk away) but still very nice.

The hotel is in a great location, just a few minutes from Rittenhouse Square. It’s also just a one minute walk to Federal Donuts, a must-visit spot known for its fried chicken and donuts. Many other excellent restaurants are a short walk away.

The Kimpton Palomar Philadelphia is located at 117 South 17th Street at Sansom.
