It’s been a little over two weeks since Anthony Bourdain tragically died.

Since then, its been reported that there were no narcotics in his system.

The chef, author, traveler and TV star is also being remembered with a mural which debuted in Santa Monica, California this past week and a bill has been proposed to create an Anthony Bourdain Food Trail in New Jersey.

Tonight, the season finale of Bourdain’s CNN show, Parts Unknown airs at 9:00pm ET.

The question remains as to whether this will be the finale of the series or not. (Footage has been shot for Season 12 but it isn’t know yet as to what will become of it.)

In the episode tonight, Bourdain travels around Bhutan with movie director Darren Aronofsky. (Known for Pi, Requiem For A Dream, The Wrestler & more. Fun fact- Aronofsky’s father was Kim’s science teacher in high school!)

I’m looking forward to this episode and hope that it isn’t the last new Parts Unknown. Hopefully, CNN will figure out a way to create finished episodes with the footage Bourdain has already shot for Season 12.

I’ve missed a bunch of recent episodes so I definitely have more of Bourdain to catch up on, especially for destinations we’ll be visiting in the future.

I highly recommend watching last week’s Cajun Mardi Gras episode if you missed it.

  1. Dennis Nagy- I heard Bell talk during a CNN special on Bourdain about that too. I hope that they figure out how to not let the Season 12 footage already filmed go to waste.

  2. After listening to W. Kamau Bell’s accounts (on NPR’s Fresh Air with Terry Gross) of filming in Kenya with Anthony Bourdain in March 2018, I really hope CNN finds a way to air that footage, even if it has to be a combined Parts Unknown and United Shades of America special episode.

  3. Mak- I only watch around half of the episode so far and I enjoyed it. Some episodes are better than others… I do hope that Season 12 does air to some extent.

    Samurai- Well said! 🙂

  4. It’s the cherry on the sundae of sadness that this would is the last episode of Parts Uknown. Perhaps the most boring episode of TV he ever made, with the same guy from the insanely dull Madagascar episode. At least an apt Coda to the direction he had taken with Parts Unknown long ago, demonstrating Bourdain’s dual fascinations with celebrity and cinematography, rather than food or local culture.

The very old episodes of the defunct Food Channel series is a much better remembrance of the innocent and pre-celebrity affected Bourdain.
