Review: Our Conrad New York “Santa Sleigh Ride”

conrad new yorkI recently wrote about how the Conrad New York was offering guests “Santa Sleigh Rides” for a limited time.

No, Santa wasn’t actually giving rides but the hotel was offering pedicab rides around the FiDi/ Battery Park area.

While the Michael W Travels family didn’t stay at the Conrad New York, we were set up with a complimentary “sleigh ride”!a staircase with blue lightsAfter lunch a block away at P.J. Clarke’s in Brookfield Place we walked over to the hotel. The entrance was really impressive and a nice intro to the Conrad New York.a christmas tree in a roomUpstairs, we checked in at Atrio Restaurant for our ride. Before heading off, we hung out for a bit in the beautiful lobby. It has a very cool vibe and I wouldn’t have minded relaxing here for even longer.a group of cookies on a paperThe restaurant gave us a bag of yummy chocolate chip cookies which we snacked on before we left. We were also given hot chocolates which we took along for the ride. a child holding a stuffed animalUpon meeting our pedicab driver, Lucas and Theo were each given a Conrad the Bull (the hotel’s mascot) stuffed toy. This made Lucas super excited.

Since the rides are curated, we discussed where we’d go. Kim and I were open to ideas since we were going to come back to the Conrad to pick up Theo’s stroller after.

It turns out that our pedicab driver Aaron is a licensed tour guide so we went on an interesting little tour of the area. The ride actually lasted quite some time, I’d say close to an hour.

Along the way, Aaron pointed out various important landmarks in the area.
a city street with tall buildings at nightWe made a few stops along the way. We got a nice view of the Statue of Liberty at one point but it it was too dark to photograph. The most awesome thing I saw was the Freedom Tower beautifully lit up. a group of people standing on a street with cars and a building in the backgroundWe also really loved the winter- themed light show on the base of the Freedom Tower.a man and child in a vehicleAt the end of our ride, Lucas and I stayed behind for a couple of photos inside the pedicab.a boy standing in front of a bicycleThe big highlight for Lucas was getting a new stuff animal. As you can see, Conrad the Bull is proudly displayed in every photo he’s in!

The Conrad New York is located at 102 North End Avenue in New York City.
