Possible Flight Delays at JFK Airport Until Mid November 2017

Over the summer there were flight delays at JFK Airport due to turtles.

A few days back I received an e-mail from JetBlue about some expected flight

delays at JFK Airport, which could last until the middle of November.

The e-mail I received had the subject, “Travel Advisory | Construction at John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK)“.

The reason for the potential delays are due to a “federally mandated runway improvement project“. The project is set to finish in the middle of November 2017.

The work will help the NYC area better handle flight traffic in the future so delays for around a month do sound like a small price to pay.

While the advisory was sent by JetBlue, it mentions that all airlines at JFK Airport could “experience extended taxi time and delays“.

If the runway project gets finished on time, at least it will miss busy holiday travel times like Thanksgiving and Christmas/ Hanukkah.

For those of you flying out of JFK Airport, good luck not getting stuck on the runway.

  1. The latest NOTAM for JFK suggests runways 4L/22R are closed from Noon-400pm today 10/19. Perhaps this an ongoing.

  2. Thanks to the incompetent PANYNJ, every trip through JFK sucks starting with the filthy terminals, the obnoxious TSA and the ridiculous Delays every single day.

    1. obnoxious TSA ? yes
      ridiculous Delays ? yes

filthy terminals of JFK ? i’d say only the ancient T2 qualifies as filthy.

try LGA Central Terminal (aka Term B) and EWR Terminal A … THAT’S what filthy looks like
